Birstonas Lady – Poster
Brief: create a risoprint poster representing our hometown. I illustrated Birstonas through the figure of a woman holding a water vase, symbolising the town’s mineral water reserves and their long-assigned healing properties. The composition highlights balance and flow, with the vase acting as both container and emblem.
The project included preliminary sketches that mapped the figure’s gesture and the vessel’s form before translation into risograph layers. The final print uses riso’s textured finish and limited palette to reinforce a tactile, timeless quality aligned with Birstonas’s reputation.
A second poster was inspired by one of the statues found in the town park. I reinterpreted the sculpture through risograph layers, emphasizing form and presence while keeping the textures and limited colours true to the medium. Together, the two posters connect local heritage with a contemporary print aesthetic.
